I learned today for the first time that Ayse and Emre's great-great grandmother was born in the courtyard of Selimiye Mosque, which I visited a couple of weeks ago in Edirne. It was in the 1870s, and her mother (who would be the great-great-great grandmother) was one of the many in the massive groups of people moved from Crimea and Romania, and she happened to be one who gave birth at this spot. This baby girl - the great-great grandmother - was named Selime after this mosque.
